When the apartheid regime ruled over South Africa,
pressure from outside the country, particularly economic pressure, was a more powerful incentive for change than the moral imperative to treat all people equally. A combination of boycotts, divestments and sanctions generated enormous pressure on the South African government and helped bring an end to apartheid there. Palestinians have asked the world to use similar pressure in support of their struggle for human rights.
Education is an important part of building solidarity with Palestinians. People need to understand that the conditions Israel has created for Palestinians amount to apartheid. Help spread the word – in conversations with people you know and on social media.
